Cycling Colombo, Sunday 18 May

CYCLE COLOMBO – advance warning!
On Sunday morning 18th May 2014 from 9am onwards there will be a random collection of people riding bikes up and down Colombo Street. Any part, north or south, at no set time.
I’ll follow up this email with a poster of the event and a suggested time that we could congregate to ride en frock-masse. I’ll also see what sort of refreshment deal I can get from the lovely people at the Honey Pot, Underground or whatever.

Organiser have asked that I tell you that the Road Code applies at all times. Please note that where the road is closed for repair, follow detour signs. If using the pavement please dismount and extend courtesy to pedestrians.
There will be cars, the roads are not closed, although It may be more suitable for families who wish to ride with children on the quieter north of the Square section.
People on bikes are important for the commercial success of our city, so let’s support local businesses en route. Show them that you came by bike (carry your helmet) to send this message.
Should the weather be bad, the event will transfer to Sunday 25th May 2014. Of course there s absolutely nothing stopping you riding in the rain!
This ride, in association with SPOKES CANTERBURY, is to promote the culture that biking is an everyday activity for easy transport in Christchurch
