Lots of bike stuff happening in October!

Hi everyone
I’ve just realised that this is the first month in 3 years that we haven’t organised an activity/ride/event. (Connie goes away and the whole system falls over, lol)
Anyho I’m squeezing in a panui before September is over to at least make contact with y’all!
Autism Canterbury is holding events every day in October to fundraise for bikes. How could we not get behind this? There are heaps of different things to choose from but here’s a special plug for three bike-orientated events: Bike Polo
3 October (Friday)
Where: Heathcote Domain
Time: 6.30 pm
Cost: $10
Max: 12 people
An introduction to the sport of bike polo – it’s highly addictive and possibly the most fun you’ll have on two wheels! They have spare mallets and even a spare polo bike for you to use, you are of course welcome to bring your own bike but suggest that it’s not your “#1 ride” just in case it gets scratched. 4 attending – 8 spaces left to meet target Random October Night Ride
7 October (Tuesday)
Where: Bottle Lake Forest
Waitikiri Drive Carpark
Time: 7 PM
Cost: $5
Max: 30 people
Meet with like-minded people and have a blat around Bottle Lake Forest. With the offer of a “no bullshit BBQ” (sausage, sauce and bread) when you finish. No prizes for first, just a few spot prizes. Road Bike Road
30 October (Thursday)
Where: Old Tai Tapu Road
(Halswell Road Turn off)
Time: 6.00 pm
Cost: $5.00
Newbies meander 16 km ride out to the Store and back
More experienced riders 30 km Lincoln circuit.
Spot prizes available.
Heaps more activities to choose from at http://www.randomoctober.co.nz/activities.html (thanks, Jan, for sharing this neat little fundraiser)
But wait, there’s more: ICEcycles has another free Bike Fix Up on 18th October. Linwood Community Arts Center (cnr Stanmore and Worchester), 1-4pm. Lets make up for being Slack in September by having an Over-acheiving October!
