Frocks on Bikes rides this month and plans for April

Dear Members
Well done for any hybrid Frockers who took part in Le Race last weekend! I hear it was super windy. We also had the annual Cargo Bike Ride last Sunday, but I forgot to remind you of it, mea culpa.
However, this weekend there will be lots of bike-friendly activities in the lovely hamlet of Geraldine 28-29 March in Kennedy Park Saturday 10 -12pm:
• The local bike maintenance man will give a talk on bike maintenance
• The Bike Barn, from Timaru, will have all sorts of bike gear for sale, and bikes to try, including electric bikes.
• The Oamaru Ordinary Cycle Club (with their penny farthing bikes etc) will be there • Decorate your bikes, materials provided.

Sunday: 1.30 From Kennedy Park: join in with a ride to Orchard Café for afternoon tea. There will also be 2 further ride options of (self guided) 7km and 25km for those who are keen.
These activities are part of the Future Living Festival: http://www.futurelivingfestival.co.nz/ If visiting Frocks on Bikes members would like to stay, get in contact with the organisers who will help with accommodation, perhaps even wrangle free billeting!
Also next weekend The Lazy Sunday Ride is having its last outing for the year. 29th March’s ride will explore Riccarton, enjoying the autumn leaves. Check out http://www.lazysundaycycle.co.nz for details and to book your place. NB- these rides are particularly to unsure riders who want to gain skills and confidence.
Looking ahead, planning is underway for a ride in late April around the Redwood Springs area – a 1 ½ hour round trip which will also take in the QEII Drive cyclists/pedestrians tunnel and , naturally, a coffee break! Connie, back from Europe and leading this ride, has given Ristretto Café the thumbs up for our coffee break. Details to come! Please let me know if you no longer wish to receive these posts. Meg
