ANZAC rides and Antigua Bridge

Hi Everyone

I was gutted to miss the Redwood Spring ride last Sunday (too busy, don’t ask) which sounded like a very pleasant day out with 30 riders. Wow. However, we bring you yet more opportunities to enjoy being on your bike with three (3!) Lazy Sunday Cycle rides this ANZAC weekend. Here’s a message from Jack, the LSC coordinator:

“Can’t believe six months had gone by since our launch. We are celebrating this milestone with special ANZAC weekend rides complete with free ANZAC biscuits,. Come and join us as we wind down the LSC riding season.
LSC & Cycle Christchurch have teamed-up to present an ANZAC Day Dawn Ride (Saturday) followed by two LSC City Rides on Sunday and Monday.
Join us with friends and family for amazing prizes and awards from Ground Effect Cycle Clothing, Via Cycles, Archi Bikes, Christchurch Bike Share, Fab Lab XCHC & Back Alley Bikes.
See you all over the weekend for a variety of rides. As always, LSC will provide bicycles for those who require one. Ts & Cs apply.
Lazy Sunday Cycle Christchurch aims to normalise cycling and show that anyone is able to ride bicycles for fun without special equipment.
Sign up for the Lazy Sunday Cycle rides here: Visit & for more info”.

There are not too many spaces left so book now to avoid disappointment! I’m planning to just sneak in to the dawn ride, skulking at the back.

But wait, there’s more…drum roll, please…the long awaited Antigua foot bridge (aka the Boatshed Bridge) is reopening! After 4 years of argey bargey through the inconvenient CDHB carpark/ bridge, we cyclists and peds will have our beloved safe and convenient – not to mention beautiful- passage across the river again. From 7.30am-9am on Thursday 30 April there will be stuff happening- see poster for more details
