Frocks on bikes rides and news for October

Hi Everyone
An cycle-action packed Labour Weekend is coming your way- see newsletter for details! .
The Brooklands October Feature Ride on Labour Day Monday will be led by Matt. This is a ride of intriguing contrasts: the lovely spring growth along the scenic River Styx, and the oddly beautiful desolation of the former Brooklands township. Once a thriving rural community, Brooklands is now little more than deteriorating driveways leading into vacant paddocks but a few houses live on.
The ride starts at Spencer Park, then takes a short jaunt through some grass along the River before re-joining the Lower Styx Road to Brooklands. We’ll wander through the deserted streets and admire the lagoon before heading back.
There will be two choices back: a direct route to Spencer Park the way we came, and a longer route that winds through Kainga and briefly joins the Main North Road before turning back along Spencerville Road.
The short option will take about an hour; the longer version more like an hour and forty minutes.
Connie has kindly offered to give a little talk about her work monitoring the River Styx for ecological health, which should be very interesting.
Also, too big to fit into our newsletter, is an invitation to be part of an e-biking and health study.
As usual, if you have an idea for a ride, let us know. Better still, why not offer to lead a ride? Meg, Matt, Catherine and Connie
