Upcoming rides in February

Tēnā koutou Frockers

Thank you to those who came along for our planning coffee morning last week. We now have a bit of a plan for the next 6 months riding. Check out our calendar, attached. This is not to say we can’t do other stuff, just let us know what you want to do!

After February’s newsletter came out, we (Frocks on Bikes) were invited for a social ride on the Northern Corridor Shared Path. The ride leaves from Rutland Street at 11am Sat 21st February. As per calendar, we’ll have a Frocks ride on the Northern Corridor Shared Path in August as hopefully by then the route will be completed all the way into Kaiapoi.

Remember tomorrow, Waitangi Day, we’re riding to Blueberry Bliss. You can start with the group at Westlake in Halswell at 9am or from Hartnels in Prebbleton at 10am. You could even join me for a brisk ride from Victoria Lake, Hagley Park leaving at 8.30am after I finish parkrun! Don’t forget to BYO pottles.

The following Saturday is the Bike Gang ride out to the Nostalgia Festival. Join in a ride near you:
Coastal Pathway: Departs 11:30am from the Surf Club (beachside)
Papanui Parallel: Departs 10:50am from Rutland St Park
Heathcote Express: Departs 11:30am from Turanga (Colombo St)
UniCycle: Departs 11:00am from Mona Vale (Maitai Street)
Rapanui: Departs 12:00pm from Linwood Park (playground)
Opawaho Heathcote River: Departs 11:00am from Roker St (Barrington St)

Finally, while Frocks is NOT an advocacy group, I do encourage you to write a submission supporting the proposed Wings to Wheels plan. This is a much needed safe route for people wanting to travel by bike to the airport and in the north east of our city. There is a lot of opposition, reiterating many of the complaints the other major cycleways have generated. The submission process closes off on 22 February.
