August’s Frocks Feature Ride and newsletter

Dear Frockers

This month’s Frocks Feature Ride is a trip down memory lane, literally, for me as we visit some of the neat cycling spots around Burnside. Many of these places predate the new wave of cycle infrastructure by 6+ decades. I remember riding my 20" Raleigh in Westburn Reserve with the gang, 50 years ago. Kids only, of course, no adults around in the good old days!

The park has a mini road network with road signs, roundabouts, stop junctions and so on for kids to practice their road safety cycling skills. No bike? Then bring trikes or scooters. There’s a small playground with slides, swings, seesaws and a roundabout and loos. Whoever is first there, please claim the picnic table!

The ride is just 5 km long on roads with generous cycle lanes but, if you feel you’re child is not up to it, please consider staying back at Westburn Reserve and letting them zoom around on their own terms.

Frocks on Bike June Newsletter

Dear Frocks on Bikes

We hope you enjoyed May’s Peace Train Ride. At around 300 riders, it was the largest and most complex rides we have done so far.

We have 2 feature rides for June- one is the tried and true Solstice Ride and the other, this coming Saturday, is something a little different. Frocker Dawn is leading a ride around some local boutique breweries where, even if you don’t like beer, there should be plenty to keep you interested. A friendly disclaimer may be in order: Frocks on Bikes does not condone being DiC on a bicycle!

April Frocks on Bikes Newsletter

Dear Frockers

A month ago we were collectively traumatised by the awful events at our city’s mosques. To all who lost loved ones, or had loved one’s injured, our sincere condolences. I was approached by a survivor of the attack in Linwood mosque soon after wanted help with putting together a memorial ride. Hence the concept of a “We are One Peace Train Ride” was born. Planning is still in progress but keep the afternoon of 26 May free if you wish to join in the peace train!

Probably for the first time in 10 years we don’t have a feature ride for the month- due to all manner of issues that I won’t go into. However, we still do have an April newsletter for you with some cycling snippets. We may have 2 feature rides lined up for next month to make up for April.

Have a great Easter and Anzac break, safe travels for those going away.

Meg

Frocks on Bikes rides and events coming up in March

Greetings everyone and welcome to new members!.

We’ve a flurry of frockish things happening in early March. This includes 2 feature rides for March and, although the first is not strictly a ride, we do strongly encourage you come by bike! The weather, although possibly cold, looks settled for this Saturday night’s play in the Gardens. I’m coming with my bike trailer and will bring extra blankets and cushions for those without much carrying capacity.

Meg, Connie and Christine
