Romantic seaside valentines ride – Tauranga 14th Feb

Hi Lovely Frockers,

I am so sorry it has been a long time in between rides, Holly has moved to Thames and will no longer be the main co-ordinator organising rides and being the main lady behind the emails etc. I (Charlotte Manville) have taken over that role. So sorry things have been a bit quite over the past few months.

So to get things moving again, dust off your best frock and bring along your loved ones for a romantic seaside valentines ride on Saturday 14th February.

The ride will start in front of Mount Drury(seaside), Mount Maunganui at 6.30pm and finish there for a picnic dinner and Night Owl Cinema!

Further details for the ride are on our Facebook Page:

Night Owl Cinema Details: THE ARTIST

The Ultimate Night Owl experience! Dress up to the nines for this extravaganza for Valentines Day!

A french romantic-comedy set in 1927 Hollywood. An ode to the silent era and black and white film. George Valentin is a successful silent movie star when the arrival of sound and talking pictures derails his career. At the same time, a vibrant young actress who got her start in the business thanks to Valentin, thrives in talkies and becomes a major star.

Bring your loved one or ones along for a delicious dinner at one of many food trucks, an evening of fun and frivolity and the screening of the Artist at dark around 9pm.

Gold coin donation for entry

We are looking forward to getting you all together for this wonderful event, be sure to get into the swing of things and dress up as there will be prizes for best dressed Frocker!

>>> I LOVE SHOES!
>>>
>>> I particularly love my runners, they’re comfortable and light with inbuilt arch support. They are exactly the right size and I wear them everywhere. Except, when I want to show off my legs. Then I put on a pair of killer heels. Or, if I think I might be walking on grass, a pair of cute little ballet flats might suit. Then again if I’m tramping through mud gumboots might be best… and on it goes…

>>>
>>> You get the picture, the right shoes for the right purpose is important. They should fit you and they should be suitable for what you are doing, blisters from ill-fitting or inappropriate footwear is not sexy! The same goes for your bike. It should fit you and should be suitable for the riding you are doing, or hoping to do if you want an enjoyable, beautiful and comfortable ride. And if you only have one bike, it’s EVEN MORE IMPORTANT that that bike suits you.

>>>
>>> We’ll de-mystify the sometimes confusing world of bikes and bike jargon so you can make a good decision about what bike will suit you and your riding style. We’ll also show you how to identify what size bike you should be riding, how to adjust that bike to suit you and how to correctly size and fit your helmet.

Light up the Night (Tauranga)

Interested in a night ride? Join us on Wednesday the 15th of May.
Winter time means less daylight, but this doesn’t mean cycling has to stop after dark!

Frocks on Bikes would like to show you how to “light up the night” so you can extend your riding into the winter months.

Charlotte Grant will lead a night ride starting at the Mount Surf Club at 6:30pm. She will also bring samples of bike lights available for purchase through Bells and Whistles. Several lights will be given away to lucky participants, thanks to the generous support of the Bright and Be Seen campaign and Tauranga City Council.
Come on… give it a try! Add some light and colour to your life.
If wet weather, the night ride will take place on the following Wednesday.

Double Bridge Loop Ride (Tauranga)

Calling all Frockers!
We are bringing back the ‘double bridge loop ride’ next Saturday 13 April. We did this one last year and it was very popular!
Meet at Tay Street Cafe on the corner Marine Parade and Tay Street at the Mount. Ride starts at 12pm.
We will ride along Oceanbeach road, cut across to Bayfair and ride the full length of Matapihi crossing the newly revamped rail bridge. We will cool our heels with icecream and cofffee at Salt & Co. on the waterfront returning to the Mount via the Harbour Bridge. Lunch at Tay Street Cafe following the ride. Approx. 15K
Before leaving home remember to check your tyre pressure ladies. We want you ready to rock ‘n’ roll!

This is good. Really good!

We have a ride planned for Sunday 24 March with the ladies from Freewheeling Tours!

Susanna and Karen will bring 20 of their 7 gear folding bikes for us to try free of charge. Great!

Invite a friend who might like to ride with us! If your friend doesn’t have a bike, no worries, she can ride a Freewheel bicycle. Helmets provided.

Meet at Tauranga Waterfront at Salt & Co. at 10am. Look for the Freewheel bike trailer!

Ride begins at Tauranga Waterfront, out to Sulphur Point, over to Otumoetai and Matua to Fergusson Park. Up Marsh Street to The Elms, past the rose gardens and back to the waterfront. Lunch on the Strand following the ride. Sweet!
