Romantic seaside valentines ride – Tauranga 14th Feb

Hi Lovely Frockers,
I am so sorry it has been a long time in between rides, Holly has moved to Thames and will no longer be the main co-ordinator organising rides and being the main lady behind the emails etc. I (Charlotte Manville) have taken over that role. So sorry things have been a bit quite over the past few months.
So to get things moving again, dust off your best frock and bring along your loved ones for a romantic seaside valentines ride on Saturday 14th February.

The ride will start in front of Mount Drury(seaside), Mount Maunganui at 6.30pm and finish there for a picnic dinner and Night Owl Cinema!
Further details for the ride are on our Facebook Page:

Night Owl Cinema Details: THE ARTIST

The Ultimate Night Owl experience! Dress up to the nines for this extravaganza for Valentines Day!

A french romantic-comedy set in 1927 Hollywood. An ode to the silent era and black and white film. At the same time, a vibrant young actress who got her start in the business thanks to Valentin, thrives in talkies and becomes a major star.

Bring your loved one or ones along for a delicious dinner at one of many food trucks, an evening of fun and frivolity and the screening of the Artist at dark around 9pm.

>>> Frockers Bike Clinic
>>> Fabulously Fit for Frocking!
>>> I particularly love my runners, they’re comfortable and light with inbuilt arch support. They are exactly the right size and I wear them everywhere. Except, when I want to show off my legs. Then I put on a pair of killer heels. Or, if I think I might be walking on grass, a pair of cute little ballet flats might suit. Then again if I’m tramping through mud gumboots might be best… and on it goes…

>>> You get the picture, the right shoes for the right purpose is important. They should fit you and they should be suitable for what you are doing, blisters from ill-fitting or inappropriate footwear is not sexy! The same goes for your bike. It should fit you and should be suitable for the riding you are doing, or hoping to do if you want an enjoyable, beautiful and comfortable ride. And if you only have one bike, it’s EVEN MORE IMPORTANT that that bike suits you.

>>> We’ll de-mystify the sometimes confusing world of bikes and bike jargon so you can make a good decision about what bike will suit you and your riding style. We’ll also show you how to identify what size bike you should be riding, how to adjust that bike to suit you and how to correctly size and fit your helmet.

>>> Types of bikes – road to mountain
>>> Fitting a bike – finding the right size, adjusting seat and head stems
>>> Fitting a helmet – finding the right size, adjusting and helmet safety
>>> Back to Basics
>>> Yes, there are somethings you really do have to be able to do yourself when you ride a bike. From emergency tyre changes to basic maintenance and safety checks.
>>> We’ll take you through some of the basic repairs and maintenance jobs that will help you keep your bike working efficiently and safely.
>>> Content
>>> Removing wheels and tyres, mending and changing tubes
>>> Cleaning and Lubricating a chain

Light up the Night (Tauranga)

Interested in a night ride? Join us on Wednesday the 15th of May.
Winter time means less daylight, but this doesn’t mean cycling has to stop after dark!
Frocks on Bikes would like to show you how to “light up the night” so you can extend your riding into the winter months.
Charlotte Grant will lead a night ride starting at the Mount Surf Club at 6:30pm. She will also bring samples of bike lights available for purchase through Bells and Whistles. Several lights will be given away to lucky participants, thanks to the generous support of the Bright and Be Seen campaign and Tauranga City Council.
Come on… give it a try! Add some light and colour to your life.
If wet weather, the night ride will take place on the following Wednesday.

BIG thank you to those ladies who showed up for the photoshoot. Several of us went for a ride afterwards as it was such a nice afternoon we couldn’t resist the opportunity to spin our wheels! There are 3 photos to view on the website. You can click on each one individually. Charlotte Grant and Amanda Hoyte look pleased as punch and Marianne Rastorfer shows us how the Europeans do it!

There is a poll on the AA website asking “If we could improve the safety of cycling on our urban roads, would you give cycling a go?” Yes or No. Take a minute to have your say!

Also, there is a prize drawing for two bicycles from Avanti. You must be an AA member to put your name in the draw. Good Luck!
