Go by Bike Day Wednesday 28 Feb

Hi Everyone
I’m just slipping in another newsletter to bring you up to date regarding our Go by Bike Day Events. We have 4 locations around the city where you can hang out on your way to work or school next Wednesday 28 February from 7-8.30am. Of course you’re welcome even if you don’t go to work or school! If you can, please pop up a poster to help spread the news.
A special thanks to our frocker volunteer support on the day from Chris, Chris, Jillian and Katie and frock-mates Keith, Pete and Greig.
Also, just to hand is some exciting news for those living in the Waimak. We may have to do a rural ride to check out the brand new Passendale cycleway soon!
Happy riding and do say hi if you’re making Antigua Bridge your pit stop next Wednesday. Meg

January Frocks on Bikes Rides

Happy New Year Frockers!
I hope you have all had the opportunity to ride over the festive season, no matter where you were. None of my 4 bikes have got cobwebs on them, so that is a good sign!
We’ve got a couple of nice rides planned for the last 2 weekend of January. See attached for details of these, and don’t forget to go to the flip side of the newsletter to read the other cycling news snippets. As always, if you do not wish to receive these email, just let me know. Cheers
Meg

Updated time re New Brighton Parade, Saturday 9 December

Frockers Newsflash!
Frocks on Bikers now have to be at New Brighton Club car park on Hawke St at 10am (10.15am at the very latest). We have to be in ONE cycling group, in lucky number 7 position so no just tagging along in between other groups if you are late!

It will be about 3° coolers than in town, but probably well warm enough for a dip! Trust me, the water is very warm. So bring your togs and sunblock, your sunnies and sun umbrella, some money for some market kai and join Connie and I for a post parade, swim and picnic brunch on the beach.
If you want to bike down with Connie, she leaves at 8.30am from the corner of Barbadoes and Cambridge Tce.
Now I have your attention, another newsflash! The Council are putting on an event to celebrate the completion of The Rapanui Cycle Way, next Wednesday 13 Dec. Running from 7.30-10.30, there will be lots of cycling related activities going on including free breakfast snacks. We need volunteers to help with cooking (on BBQ) eggs and serving. Can you help? email me if you can: meg.christie@cdhb.health.nz Even if you can’t help, if you live in the area, or are passing though that morning , do pop in.

Meg

December Frocks on Bikes Newsletter

Good Afternoon Frockers and a big welcome to new members
About 6 years ago we went out to New Brighton and took part in their Christmas Parade. We’ve decided to do this again, aiming for a more relaxed and low-key procession than our usual big Santa Parade in town. We do hope you’ll join in, dressing up in your Kiwiana Christmas beachy attire.
You’ll next hear from me in the New Year. Connie and I already have a ride planned for January. But, as always, if you have a good idea for a ride, let us know. Merry Christmas everyone- just 1 month and 1 day to go!
Meg

Guy Fawkes Ride this Sunday 5 November

Welcome to our 30 new members, recruited at last weekend’s Bike Expo.
Phew! Biketober is over and we trust you made it to at least one event or ride. Meg went to/organised/volunteered at 9 events and Connie probably did double that!
Due to popular demand we are again riding out to New Brighton Beach this coming Sunday to the Guy Fawkes display- all details in the newsletter . Weather looks good at this stage… cancellations done by 6pm Sunday.
SITUATIONS VACANT: Our usual Santa Parade organiser, Nigel, is stepping down after 7 years in the role. Someone from Spokes Canterbury, the cycling advocacy group, may take this on but if any frocker wants to organise it this year, give us a shout. Frocks has never officially organised this, we just promote and support it. May the force be with you!
Meg and Connie
